More January Kit Projects with Guest Designer Riikka Kovasin

Hello there! Happy New Year! It's Riikka here again sharing a couple of projects with the January Mixed Media Kit and January Paper Add-On.

As I went neutral with my first layout, these projects are made using the turquoise in the kit. The first layout is about the rural views. There's something special about the wavy fields and dark forests. Although I'm a city girl through and through every now and then I need to get out of the town and see the green grass and the blue skies.

I used the stencil here with two different mediums: the crackle paste and also the blue twinkling paint. I added touches with the Perfect Pearls powder also. Besides the materials from the kit I also used blue mist, alpha stickers and a black felt pen on the page.

The second page is about a revelation. My younger daughter wanted to leaf through the one and only Project Life album I have done and she was captivated! That moment I understood why documenting the everyday life is so important. I'm hopeless in completing an album daily but I'm trying to capture some glimpses of the everyday life in my pages.

I used the blue paint from the kit in the background and layered some stamping and stenciled Perfect Pearls patterns on top. Besides using the supplies from the kit I used a pencil, a blue mist, grey and blue stamp ink and a black felt pen.

For my third project I wanted to do something other than a layout. As the kit contained a photo frame, I wanted to use an idea that has been popping around Pinterest quite a lot - building a mini album around the frame. And as the year is just turning and the sticker sheet holds the names of the months, I decided to do a little calendar hanging from the frame.

I decorated the cover heavily compared to the inner pages. The inner pages only hold a calendar piece I created using Word, a few pieces of patterned paper and the month sticker. On the cover I used parts of the big flower, the roses and the ribbons. I also included patterned papers and a tag.

Thanks for visiting the blog today! I hope my projects inspire you!
